    Avoid culture shock by staying in touch with friends and family in Canada (email, Skype, phone call via laptop etc), travel around Brisbane region or Australia in your spare time. Learn a new hobby or sport eg surfing, make local friends, try the local cuisine, coffee, wine etc and explore the local arts scene, see local wildlife parks like Lone Pine or Daisy Hill Koala Park, visit national parks with mountains, rainforest and waterfalls. Or the islands, Moreton, Bribie and North Stradbroke, Fraser / Kgari eg. Last but not least expect reverse culture shock when you return to Canada, even if only for a few weeks to catch up with family. Some things will have changed, others gotten worse and others stayed the same. eg the rain in BC.

    I don't mean to be an arse.... BUT, you are a vlogger, so the "open restaurants near me" query in your favorite map app, would have saved you some whining... We didn't have ANY tourists for 2 years in the old Quebec "tourist" area, so everything started closing earlier, or forever. Plus we are hit with the same service industry worker shortage... So had you SEARCHED for a place to eat, you'd have found a couple inside the wall, and more right outside... St-Jean street has a 24h snack bar, and a bar with food until 4am... Maybe 200 feet from D'Youville street.

    Permanent (full time and part time) employees get things like annual leave and sick leave, whereas casual employees don't. As such casual employees get compensated with higher rates. In my opinion though, the higher pay rate isn't enough. Better to be a permanent employee. The company can also get rid of a casual employee much more easily. Permanents' have to be given a chance (3 I think).

    Hi Cascee...I'm a Canadian and I moved here (Just North of Sydney) for about 10 yrs ago. I feel your pain, I KNOW your pain. You are right, not everything is easy here, what you have to watch out for is - Australians lie with impunity as what I called prolific and compulsive liars; Aussie men are a dime a dozen. Darling, you are not in Canada anymore (Short joke) and the only thing you have to keep in mind is, going back to their history when the country was born was the fact that the first night when the 1st fleet landed, their was one night of debauchery and then after multiple women had children with mulitple men. So later, when after the 1st generation was born, you never know who married their half sibling. The thing you are lucky for (count your blessings) that I married a man that still had an still angry ex-wife, crazy children who have tried to get me killed, you can see why, I had become a very observant person. I don't trust Australians, not ever. This is still a very much patriarchal society; so males here still believe that the woman should be quiet and soft and the power balance is in their favor. Think on that. Australian Males are obsessed with being in Control.

    Hello there i'm really approciate with your vid that can seeing UX designer's life❤ I would like to know if completing the university/bootcamp in Australia is important when I get an uxui design job in Australia. If you want to work abroad in Australia, is work visa application active in this industry?

    • @cascee
      @cascee 4 месяца назад

      Its definitely harder if you have a work visa because they prefer to hire australian citizens. They will still hire you as long as you dont have work restrictions. You dont need a Australian school degree. As long as you have a great portfolio and some sort of education on that field!

    The paper size thing is basically A1 = 2 x A2 = 4 x A3 = 8 x A4, etc. So, 2 A4 will make an A3 sheet. It's a pretty good system to standardise the whole thing. And is important when you look at printers, copiers, etc. Now, here is the twist - University degrees tend to be a different size again. And that can be a pain when, for some jobs they want to see the original and confirm with the university.
